BEDALE MAIN STREET.

---------------BEDALE is one of North Yorkshire s smaller market towns.in England. It has a wide main street, in which the Tuesday market is held....For a small town it has loads of Pubs and Cafes ,and Tesco and Cooperative supermarkets in main street. There are several hotels and caravan sites nearby. The town is great on a car journey for a stop or stopover.---I arrived by bus number 73 from Northallerton, half hourly service taking 28 minutes, this is a good service for the countryside, but buses between other places not so frequent , always check times.----Bedale has the slogan "Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales" ---In 2019 Bedale,is included in the Cycle Race "Tour De Yorkshire " in May. The parish church of St. Gregory is from the 12th century.--------The distance from Leeds is 34 miles [ 55km ], 7 miles {11km} from the County town of Northallerton. Bedale is 2 miles {3.2km } west of the Motorway A1M.at Leeming Bar. -----------------Bedale as a railway station on the heritage preserved Wensleydale Railway . British Rail closed the line in 1954, Military trains ran now and again, the line reopened in 2003 as a heritage railway for tourists and locals running between Leeming Bar and Redmire, passing through Bedale. For times go online Wensleydale Railway.---------I enjoyed my dayout, seeing North Yorkshires lovely scenery,in the sunshine in mid February.
